Abbott Laboratories plans to cut 1,000 jobs as part of a restructuring of its diagnostic business.
Once the plan is implemented it is expected to produce more than $150 million in annual pre-tax savings, the company said.
North Chicago-based Abbott said cuts will be made globally, but declined to say how many jobs in will be cut locally. “We’re addressing excess capacity, reducing costs and improving efficiencies.”
