Freightliner LLC announced just last month that it will layoff 100 layoffs workers.

The company says the layoffs are the result of decreasing customer demand.

Eclipse says the workforce reduction is the result of an “operational excellence strategy,” introduced by Acting CEO Roel Pieper at AirVenture in Oshkosh last month. These cuts amount to a 38 percent reduction in the company’s total employment ranks.

Eclipse is laying off approximately 650 employees, including its production facilities in Albuquerque, NM; and service centers in Gainesville, FL; and Albany, NY.

They expect all job cuts to be completed in the fourth quarter. The company’s shares were up 15 cents at $47.91 in afternoon New York Stock Exchange trade.

More than 60 affected workers will be let go by the end of November, while the last terminations will take place by February 27, 2009.

Diebold said that the work is being transferred to a plant in Lexington, N.C. as part of a move to cut about 800 jobs by the end of this year. The company employs over 17,000 workers worldwide. The company is working on a 3 year plan to cut $100 million in cost by the end of 2008.
